Students will create and present a Mystery Box containing 8 items that represent clues that would be used to help students guess the focus of a lesson/unit related to social studies content. This project consists of a decorated box, 8 artifacts representing clues, explanation page of clues, and a book all related to a historical event, time period, historical figure, or SS concept, aligned with a MIssouri Learning Standard. The focus of the mystery box needs to be different than your SS minilesson. The goal here is to research and create activities for a variety of SS content. This assignment is worth 25 points.

Please complete the following steps:
1) Sign up for a day to present here. (This is the same sign-up sheet as the one for the Current Events assignment.)
2) Make a copy of this Explanation Page and Scoring Guide, add your name to the title, and move it to your shared folder. This document includes all of the necessary information to complete this assignment. I have embedded a copy below.

3) Plan for and create your Mystery Box according to the guidelines on the document embedded above. Just type right within the document because that is what I will be grading. Make sure you move it to your shared folder.

- Treat this activity as a possible Opening section of a lesson plan and act accordingly.
- Reveal your clues in the predetermined order (as noted on your copy of the above document) to introduce your content.
- Enact your plan for student interaction, guessing the mystery, and your plan for response (as noted in the document).
- Share the book you chose, your favorite tabbed page (so I can go back to it later), and how it supports your mystery box and student learning. (You have to physically HAVE the book with you the day of your presentation.)
- Your presentation should be no more than 15 minutes long.
Scoring Guide and Turning In Your Project
- The Explanation document will act as the scoring guide as well. Only one document is needed for this assignment, so make sure it's in your shared folder will all required information filled out.
- You will also turn in your Mystery Box with all 8 numbered clues inside. I will return them when I have evaluated your project.
- You also need to turn in your book with the tabbed page that you shared during your presentation.
