Before Class:

- a) Read: Portions of Ch. 11 - Geography: Exploring the Whole World through Interdisciplinary Instruction
- Read pp. 450-451 thoroughly;
- Read through the “In the Classroom” inserts on p. 452-453;
- Skim pp. 455-476; Pay attention to the big ideas for each of the 6 Essential Elements, classroom activities, and children’s literature.
- b) Choose at least 2 of the resources on this link to explore. These are all geography-related games, websites, and activities to involve your students in learning.
- c) Add a place you’ve traveled or a place that’s significant to you to the Google My Map that I created for our class with a photo that reflects something you did on your trip and an explanation of why you chose this place. Here’s a video I created about how to add pins to the map with photos as well. Don’t forget to add your name to your pin!
- a) Choose at least 3 of the most important aspects/ideas of the readings/resources you explored.
- Describe why they are important, your personal reactions, and how they will impact you as a teacher. (This shows your ability to evaluate the readings and connect them to yourself now and in the future in your own classroom.)
- Make sure that you include SOMETHING from the resources you explored outside of the textbook. When you refer to the other resources, please LINK them within your response, so I know what they are.
- b) Include at least 2 questions you had while reading. This shows that you are an active, engaged reader and learner.
- c) Respond to at least 2 classmates.
- Ask questions about things you don't understand. Try to answer your peers' questions. Share your thoughts. Share from your own experiences. Share outside resources that you've encountered or used in field experiences or classes.
- These need to be more than just "I agree!" or "Good point!"
